Germany scored seven runs in the third inning of a 16-4 victory over Russia on field two at the European Championship in Hoofddorp on Monday morning. It was the third Germany win in four games, as they advance to the final round. Russia remains winless.
Germany scored in five of the first six frames for their best offensive game of the tournament. Ludwig Glaser and Max Boldt highlighted the big rally with a three-run home run and a bases clearing double. Shawn Larry contributed three hits, two triples, four runs scored and three RBI. Alexey Kobrinets drove in two for Russia, which avoided the shutout with a four-run sixth.
Johannes Krumm earned the win. A late addition to the German roster he allowed just six hits, four runs and two walks in five-plus innings. Kevin Trisl struck out four in two frames to close it out. Viacheslav Shmelev conceded eight hits, nine runs (8 ER) and five walks in 2 1/3 innings to take the loss.
