Dynasty of Draci Brno continues

Posted on October 22, 2007October 22, 2007 by philipp

This weekend Czech baseball finished the season. AVG Draci Brno won the championship. They swept the Extraleague final series 3-0. In game two on Saturday AVG had Prochazka on the mound against MZLU Express with Kubat. Express started better and scored two runs in the second inning to take an early lead. But Draci changed their pitcher and Minarik stopped the Offense of MZLU until the end of the game. AVG rallied in the seventh period and won 3-2.

On Sunday the series changed home field advantage to Express. Both clubs play in the same ballpark, Municipal Stadium. They started 18-year-old Jelinek. Another young gun, Schneider, was on the mound for Draci. And he was nearly unbeatable. He allowed only one hit and three base on balls and was named star of the game. AVG started strong and scored their first run in the second inning. They added two more and celebrated a 3-0 shutout, to clinch the pennant. It is the 13th straight national title for AVG Draci Brno.
