The Netherlands picked up its first win at the St. Petersburg International Baseball on Saturday evening. Kevin Heijstek, David Bergman, Diegomar Markwell, Nick Veltkamp and Orlando Yntema issued just two hits to lead the team of manager Brian Farley to an 8-0 shutout. Danny Rombley went 2-for-3, while Michael Duursma collected two hits.

The Dutch National Team had started the international tournament in Florida with two losses against the Seoul Nexen Heroes. For the Canadian Juniors the game against the European team was their last one, as they will travel home on Sunday. The Netherlands scored another run in an unofficial tenth inning on Saturday to provide some extra playing time in defense for Canada. Rombley and Sidney de Jong had hits to drive in Eugene Kingsale.

For the Netherlands their next game will be on Monday evening against Eckerd College. This match is not part of the St. Petersburg International Baseball. On Wednesday they will face the Tampa Bay Rays.
