The women of the Dutch Softball team, who are currently in South California, travelled to Davis this weekend to participate in the Invitational Tournament. They won both of their games on Friday.
Game 1:

They defeated the Providence College Friars 6-1. After three scoreless innings to start the mach, they scored five runs in the fourth to take a 5-0 lead. Both teams exchanged runs in the fifth and the Netherlands held on to celebrate a victory in the first game of the Davis Invitational.Eight of their nine starters had a hit. Jolanda KROESEN drove in two. Noemi BOEKEL got the only extra-base-hit with a triple.Starter Kristi DE VRIES allowed one run on three hits in four-plus innings o receive the win. Dagmar BLOEMING closed out the game for the save.
Game 2:

The Dutch team met with the Bakersfield Roadrunners in the second game. They scored three runs in the second for a 3-1 advantage. They added some insurance runs afterwards to secure the win. Bakersfield tried to rally in the end, but the deficit was too big.Kim KLUIJSKENS had three RBI in the game. Ellen VENKER got two hits.Judith VAN KAMPEN (W 1-0) allowed nine hits and two runs in six innings. Anouk MELS relieved her to finish the job.
They are facing the Providence College and the University of Caifornia again today
Update: The two games on Saturday were rained out. There are no make-up dates scheduled and the Dutch team will meet with the University of California in Berkeley on Tuesday.
