Dutch RHP Donny Breek signs with Minnesota Twins

Posted on September 28, 2017 by philipp

Only a couple of days after it got public that Germany’s Niklas Rimmel is signing with the Minnesota Twins, the American League organization added another European pitching prospect. 17-year-old Dutch right-hander Donny Breek is signing with the Twins as well.

He impressed scouts at the WBSC U18 Baseball World Cup in Thunder Bay and follows in the footsteps of Alexander Smit, Tom Stuifbergen and Loek van Mil among other Dutch players, who tried their luck in Minnesota’s farm system.

Breek started his career with Almere ’90. He then played for the baseball academy Scimitars and HCAW before joining DSS. With Dutch Youth National Teams he won U15 European Championships in 2013 and 2014 and the U18 European Championship last year.
