The Vaessen Pioniers defeated L&D Amsterdam 4-2 on Saturday in the semi-final round robin of the Dutch Hoofdklasse. Starter Roger Kops (W) allowed just two runs on five hits in five innings. Afterwards former Minor Leaguer Jan Rehacek (S) struck out six in four scoreless one-hit innings of relief. Ben Grover (L) took the loss, surrendering six hits, four runs (3 ER) and three bb in 5 1/3 innings.

DOOR Neptunus nearly blew a 6-0 lead, but hold on to a narrow one-run advantage in the end to prevail 6-5 against Corendon Kinheim. Tom Brice drove in two for Rotterdam. Bryan Engelhardt went deep for Kinheim. Kevin Heijstek (W) conceded five hits, two runs and a walk in six innings. Nick Veltkamp (L) gave up eight hits, five runs and a bb in two-plus innings for the loss. A strong relief outing by Steven van Groningen came to late.
