Dutch National Team splits first two WBC Warm-Ups

The Netherlands have played their first two WBC warm-up games during training camp in Scottsdale, Arizona. On Tuesday the Dutch team won 4-1 against the GateWay Community College. Danny Rombley hit a homerun and collected two hits overall. Diegomar Markwell, Orlando Yntema, Mark Pawelek, Jonatan Isenia, Wendell Floranus and Leon Boyd took the mound to split pitching duties.

In the second match of their exhibition schedule on Wednesday the team of manager Hensley Meulens lost 3-4 to Chandler-Gilbert Community College. They lost in the ninth inning on a walk-off RBI single. Kalian Sams, Dashenko Ricardo and Randolph Oduber had two hits apiece. The Dutch hurlers led by starter David Bergman issued ten hits, four runs and three walks combined in nine innings, striking out nine.

In other exhibition series action prior to the 2013 World Baseball Classic Team China lost 1-6 in Arizona against the NC Dinos of the Korea Baseball Organization.
