In the Dutch Hoofdklasse ties can happen occasionally due to curfew rules. On Thursday two ties happened in three games. De Glaskoning Twins and Pickles UVV settled for a 9-9 tie. The Twins scored five runs in the bottom of the eighth to deny a loss. UVV led by as much as six runs in the game.
16 runs less were scored in the second tied game of the night, as HCAW tied the Hoofddorp Pioniers 1-1 after also eight innings. A sun delay in the fifth inning was responsible that the game didn’t reach the regular nine innings in time. HCAW took the lead in the bottom of the fifth, but the Pioniers came back in the seventh.
DSS meanwhile stunned L&D Amsterdam with a 3-1 victory. A RBI double and an error broke a 1-1 tie in the top of the ninth inning to lift the Haarlem based club to the win. It was only the third loss for Amsterdam in 20 games this season, which is preparing for next week’s European Champions Cup in Regensburg.
