In the Dutch Hoofdklasse L&D Amsterdam clinched the second spot in the Holland Series with a 2-1 win over Curacao Neptunus Rotterdam on Sunday. Curiously both teams will meet in the Dutch championship series following the European Championship. Rob Cordemans, Kyle Ward and Tom de Blok kept the strong Rotterdam offense to one run in nine innings. Kenny Berkenbosch scored a tie-breaking run in the bottom of the fourth to decide the outcome.
The Vaessen Pioniers, which actually have a better record in the semi-final round robin compared to Amsterdam, completed a three-game sweep over Kinheim on Sunday. They won 10-7 after scoring six combined runs in the seventh and eighth. Amsterdam got ranked ahead of the Pioniers due to some bonus points from the regular season in the Dutch Hoofdklasse.
