Two make-up games were played in the Dutch Hoofdklasse semifinal round robin on Monday. Curacao Neptunus and L&D Amsterdam picked up wins and secured their spots in the Holland Series, which is slated to start next week. Prior to the Holland Series both teams will meet in a three-game series this coming weekend to round up the semifinals.
Curacao Neptunus shut out the Hoofddorp Pioniers 2-0. Orlando Yntema and Jan Tomek combined to throw a four-hitter. Gianison Boekhoudt and Dwayne Kemp scored both runs for Rotterdam. Lars Huijer pitched seven strong innings himself, but still had to settle for the loss.
L&D Amsterdam prevailed 4-2 over HCAW. The Pirates built up a 4-0 lead after seven innings with Bussum only being able to avoid the shutout with two runs in the eighth. Kevin Heijstek pitched six scoreless innings for the win. Jim Ploeger got charged with the loss.
