In the Dutch Hoofdklasse playoffs it looks more and more like L&D Amsterdam and Curacao Neptunus will meet in the Holland Series. After sweeping their opening sets of the round robin last weekend they also won on Thursday and improved to 4-0, while HCAW and the Hoofddorp Pioniers remain winless.
L&D Amsterdam downed HCAW 4-1. Rob Cordemans struck out eight in seven innings, allowing just one run on four hits to secure the win. He worked with a 2-0 advantage after the first and had four runs support after three. Gilmer Lampe drove in two. Zerzinho Croes scored twice. Jim Ploeger got charged with the loss, surrendering four runs on nine hits and two walks in six innings.
Curacao Neptunus shut out the Hoofddorp Pioniers 3-0. Diegomar Markwell went the distance conceding only three hits and a base on balls in a complete game shutout. Lars Huijer matched him for the first four innings until a throwing error by the center fielder allowed Daniel Fernandes to break the tie in the fifth. Rotterdam added two more runs in the eighth – once again after an error.
