In the Dutch Hoofdklasse semifinal round robin Curacao Neptunus Rotterdam and the Hoofddorp Pioniers celebrated wins on Thursday evening. With the 6-5 victory by Rotterdam over L&D Amsterdam, Curacao Neptunus clinched home field advantage for the Holland Series, which starts next week.
Curacao Neptunus took a quick 4-0 lead in the first, added insurance runs in the third and fifth and then saw their lead getting reduce to a single run in the seventh. However in the end they prevailed. Ruar Verkerk drove in two. Gianison Boekhoudt and Daniel Fernandes scored two runs apiece. Kenny Berkenbosch had two RBI for the Pirates.
The Pioniers used a pair of four-run rallies in the fifth and sixth to break a 3-3 tie in a 13-3 blowout over HCAW. Mervin Gario and Mark Smit scored four runs each. Remco Draijer picked up four RBI. Luuk ter Beek pitched 6 1/3 innings for the win. Sedley Karel got charged with the loss.
