For the first time an all-star game will be played in the Hoofdklasse this summer. The Dutch Baseball and Softball Federation (KNBSB) announced on Thursday that the match will be played between the north and the south on Sunday, July 4th at a location, which has yet to be determined. Interested hosts can submit their applications to the KNBSB office.
The northern clubs L&D Amsterdam, Corendon Kinheim, Almere Magpies and Mr. Cocker HCAW, as well as the southern clubs DOOR Neptunus, Sparta/Feynoord Rotterdam, ADO The Hague and Konica Minolta Pioniers each will send at least four players to the all-star game.
Both teams will consist of 24 players, including ten pitchers and two catchers. Charles Urbanus (L&A Amsterdam, North) and Steve Janssen (DOOR Neptunus, South) will be the managers, as each team ranked the highest during the 2009 campaign in the Hoofdklasse. The head coaches of the other six teams are going to complete the technical staffs for the game.
