DOOR Neptunus clinched a spot in the Holland Series with a 15-2 rout over Corendon Kinheim on Saturday afternoon in the Dutch Hoofdklasse semi-finals. Kalian Sams hit a grand slam in his first game back in the Netherlands after finishing his minor league season with the Texas Rangers Double-A affiliate. Shaldimar Daantji went 3-for-3 with two doubles and three runs scored. Bryan Engelhardt scored both runs for Kinheim. Neptunus scored six runs in the fourth and five in the seventh to blow the game wide open.
Meanwhile the Vaessen Pioniers kept their Holland Series hopes alive with a 2-0 shutout over L&D Amsterdam on Saturday. With a win on Sunday the Pioniers or Amsterdam will join DOOR Neptunus in the championship series. Josh Rickards allowed just five hits and four walks in seven scoreless innings, while striking out seven. Zerzinho Croes and Vince Rooi scored the two runs in second and the third. Kevin Heijstek issued eight hits, two runs (1 ER) and three walks in 5 1/3 innings to take the loss.
