In the Dutch Hoofdklasse three games were on the schedule on Thursday. De Glaskoning Twins stunned the Hoofddorp Pioniers with a 2-1 win. A bases loaded walk by Bram Grooten in the bottom of the ninth ended the contest in walk-off style. Lars Huijer started for the Pioniers and struck out 14 in seven innings.
In the other games the favorites celebrated lopsided wins. Curacao Neptunus Rotterdam prevailed 11-1 over DSS. They blew the game open with a seven-run third. Daniel Fernandes, Ruar Verkerk and Gregory Muller combined for six RBI. Diegomar Markwell pitched six innings for the win.
L&D Amsterdam meanwhile beat Pickles UVV 9-0. The Pirates took a quick 3-0 lead after three innings and added six runs in the eighth. Rob Cordemans threw seven three-hit innings. Danny Rombley collected four hits and three RBI.
