The Dutch Hoofdklasse opened week two on Thursday evening with four games. Rob Cordemans started for L&D Amsterdam against HCAW and struck out six in five scoreless innings, allowing only three hits and two walks. With the six strikeouts he now stands at 1,999 for his career and he most likely will reach the 2,000-milestone next week against Curacao Neptunus. After Cordemans left the game with the score tied 0-0, Amsterdam scored on a RBI-single by Gilmer Lampe in the sixth en route to a 2-0 win. Nick Veltkamp earned the win in relief. Chris Pfau got charged with the loss.
In the other three matchups on Thursday evening Curacao Neptunus beat the Twins Oosterhout 8-4. Diegomar Markwell struck out nine in six innings for the win. Rotterdam scored five runs in the third to erase an early deficit on their way to the win. The Silicon Storks beat DSS 8-4 at Pim Mulier Stadium in Haarlem. The Storks used a four-run third to turn a 0-3 deficit into a lead. Jurrian Koks got the win, Juan Carlos Sulbaran the loss. Lars Huijer struck out 12 in six shutout innings to lead the Hoofddorp Pioniers to an 11-6 win. It was a one-sided affair with the Pioniers leading 8-0 after six innings.
