Telemarket Rimini
Just a few days after it got public that the Australian right-handed pitcher Dushan Ruzic is going to leave reigning Dutch champion Neptunus Rotterdam, he has found a new team in Europe. According to a report on Baseball.it Ruzic is going to join the Italian Baseball League club Telemarket Rimini for the 2011 season. He had a perfect 9-0 record with an ERA of 1.56 in 18 appearances (nine starts) this year, striking out 78 batters in 81 innings, walking 26. He was named MVP of the Holland Series, leading Neptunus to a second consecutive title.
Danesi Nettuno
Former Major League pitcher Kris Wilson will stay with Danesi Nettuno according to the same report by Baseball.it. The 34-year-old, who had pitched for the Kansas City Royals and the New York Yankees in the big leagues, had joined the Italian Baseball League club at the beginning of the 2010 season. He went 7-4 with an ERA of 2.50 and 70 strikeouts (ten walks) in 75 2/3 innings. Nettuno hasn’t yet confirmed who is going to be the manager in next year’s campaign. Giampiero Faraone seems to be on the way out with Ruggero Bagialemani (in 2010 with Montepaschi Grosseto) and Guglielmo Trinci (manager Nettuno IBL2) rumored to succeed him.
Montepaschi Grosseto
If Ruggero Bagialemani is going to leave Montepaschi Grosseto, the Tuscan club apparently could bring back Vincent Luciani to take over at the helm. He led them to national championships in 1986 and 1989 plus a European Cup title in 2005. Additionally Grosseto is interested in bringing back shortstop Danny Sandoval and signing William Vasquez, who won the championship with T&A San Marino in 2008.
