Draci Brno wins Czech Baseball Championship 2014

Posted on August 25, 2014 by philipp

Draci Brno has defended its title in the Czech Extraleague. They defeated Kotlarka Prague in five games in the Czech Finals this weekend. After both teams split a doubleheader on Saturday in the Czech capital, Brno used strong pitching by Petr Minarik in a 2-1 win over Kotlarka on Sunday.

He issued just two hits and three walks in seven scoreless innings. Afterwards Radim Chroust ran into trouble in the eighth, but Martin Schneider bailed him out for the save. Jakub Hajtmar and Schneider scored the two runs in the third. Petr Baroch crossed the plate for Prague. Lucas Ercoli took the loss, surrendering two runs on six hits and five base on balls in seven innings.

Both teams had split the first two games in Brno one week ago.
