Draci Brno hopes to defend Title in Czech Extraleague

Posted on March 28, 2013March 28, 2013 by philipp

In 2012 Draci Brno celebrated its 40th anniversary with the 17th Extraleague championship, their 17th in the last 18 years. The club previewed the upcoming season on its website. The biggest news this winter is certainly the retirement of Pavel Budsky, one of the best first basemen in European Baseball in the last decade. He will no longer play, but stays with Draci as a coach.

Michael Kremlacek is expected to take over at first for the big Budsky. Przemek Chroust and Vojtech Jelinek leave for Hrosi Brno. Jan Tomek is most likely joining the Arrows Ostrava. Petr Minarik and Michal Sobotka will be leading the pitching staff, which will get reinforcement for the European Cup with the nephew of Geoff Samuels.

Alex Derhak, Martin Schneider and Jakub Hajtmar spent the winter in Australia, playing baseball, but will return in April for the 2013 season. The Ondracek brothers will patrol the outfield for manager David Winkler.
