Draci Brno have clinched Czech regular season title

Draci Brno (25-3) has clinched the Czech Baseball League regular season title despite splitting a pair of games with the Ostrava Arrows last weekend, 7-11 and 9-4.

Martin VESELY is hitting .382 (34-for-89) with 29 runs and 21 RBI’s for Draci Brno while Martin SCHNEIDER is hitting .375 and has won six games with a 1.16 ERA with 50 strikeouts. Draci Brno will meet either the Arrows or Krc Altron – who will meet on September 2nd – in the first round of the playoffs.

MZLU Express (20-8) has secured the second seed in the playoffs with two victories over Black Hill Blansko (4-24) this past week, 13-3 and 5-2. Jan JABLONKA (.360) is the leading hitter for the Express while Leos KUBAT has registered six wins, 66 strikeouts, and a 0.79 ERA.

Krc Altron (17-10) swept two games from Skokani Olomouc (8-20) last weekend, 3-1 and 3-2, and will meet Ostrava in a crucial game on September 2nd to determine the third seed in the playoffs. Michal MULLER is the leading hitter for Krc Altron with a .368 mark.

The Arrows (16-11) are led by the league’s top hitter, Jakub MALIK, who is 38-for-83 (.458) with 25 RBI’s. Mike GRIFFIN has 26 RBI’s and Zdenek VOTAVA has six wins for Ostrava.

In other action this past weekend, Technika Brno (15-13) took two games from the Tegola Titans (6-22), 5-0 and 9-1.
