The Pittsburgh Pirates have added 23-year-old Lithuanian pitcher Dovydas Neverauskas to their 40-man roster. With the addition he also receives an automatic invitation to the MLB portion of Spring Training next year. Since he was the first and only Lithuanian to sign with a MLB organization in 2010 he obviously is continuing to make history for the Baltic country.
The right-handed pitcher, who is throwing up to 95 MPH, switched from a starting role to the bullpen last year and his professional baseball career went off. He reached Triple-A in 2016 and was invited to the Futures Game this summer in San Diego. He probably would have made his big league debut this September, but an arrest after a bar fight in Ohio provided a hiccup.
