DOOR Neptunus trip to Cuba successful despite loss

Posted on March 14, 2008 by philipp

The Dutch team DOOR Neptunus made a trip to Cuba this past week. They worked out twice a day and got their preparation in for the upcoming season. They lost their only exhibition 0-3 against Ciudad Havana.

They never had a real chance versus the local team. Neptunus managed just two hits through Mike BAZUIN and Raily LEGITO. The Cubans scored their first run on a groundball by Yasmani LOPEZ and added two more in the sixth frame through RBI’s by Jose CUESTA and Michel PEREIRA.

Jurjen VAN ZIJL allowed two hits, one run and a walk in three innings, striking out one. Wouter LENSSELINK relieved him for one period. Berry VAN DRIEL pitched the last two frames, giving up three hits, a run and a walk.

The club returned home today (Friday) and meets with Sparta/Feyenoord this weekend.
