Alike in 2013, German 40-man roster players Donald Lutz and Max Kepler are extending their 2014 seasons under sunny conditions. Lutz again is going to play for Yaquis de Obregon in the Mexican Pacific League. After a short vacation in Germany following the conclusion in the MLB with the Cincinnati Reds he travelled to Central America this week, as the winter league season starts on October 10. Their first game will be on Saturday.
Kepler (Minnesota Twins) looks like to be the lone European representative in this year’s Arizona Fall League, which got underway this week. He is playing for the Salt River Rafters, looking to find more at bats after a solid campaign with the Fort Myers Miracle in the Florida State League. The AFL season runs through November 15 and also involves some time saving experiments. Being on the 40-man rosters of their respective MLB organizations Lutz and Kepler already have secured a spot in Major League Spring Training in February.
FYI,
Mexico is in North America, not Central America.
That’s kinda like saying Greece is part of Asia or the Middle East.
Mexicans are Norte Americanos. And we Gringos are fortunate to have them among us, despite what the right wingers say.
