Donald Lutz hits for 1st Cycle in Dayton Dragons History

Posted on July 22, 2011 by philipp

Not many players can say that they were featured on the front page of MILB.com, much fewer have hit for the cycle and even less did it twice. German first baseman Donald Lutz accomplished that feat on Thursday. He homered, tripled, doubled and singled in his first four at-bats in a game against Peoria in the Midwest League, leading his Dayton Dragons to a 13-0 shutout. It was the first cycle in the 12-year history of the Dragons. For the 22-year-old it was his second in his minor league career, as he already did it in 2009 playing for the GCL Reds in the Gulf Coast League. Lutz is currently riding a 13-game hitting streak. Overall he is batting .266 (OBP .327/SLG .459) with 14 homeruns, a triple, 15 doubles, 53 runs and 39 RBI in 82 games for Dayton this season. His big game was honored by a featured story on MILB.com.
