On Tuesday the Berlin Flamingos, a German second-division club, announced that they have signed Don Freeman as their new head coach. The US-American coached the Mainz Athletics together with Ulli Wermuth in 2015 and 2016, winning the German championship last year. This past offseason he became the new head coach of the Munich-Haar Disciples. But midway through the regular season both sides parted ways. According to the Disciples release at that time, the 67-year-old Freeman had to leave due to urgent family obligations. Now he is at the helm with the Flamingos, which have German national team pitcher Enorbel Marquez-Ramirez on his roster, who also was their head coach until now.
