After losing to the Dodgers last Sunday, Jair Jurrjens draw the same opponent on Friday night in Chavez Ravine, Los Angeles. And again the offense of manager Joe Torre had not much problems with the young right-hander from Curacao. He gave up seven hits, five runs (4 ER) and three walks in 4 1/3 innings, while striking out five. Casey Blake ended his day with a three-run homerun in the fifth. Jurrjens also was ejected, when he walked off the mound, arguing with the home plate umpire Eric Cooper, who had missed a call one batter earlier. Cooper apparently had called a strike on a 3-1 pitch to Andre Ethier, but reversed his call, awarded him first base and Blake hit the next pitch over the fence in left field. Jurrjens threw 59 of his 94 pitches for strikes. But he didn’t receive the loss, as Atlanta came back to tie the contest in the ninth on a RBI single by Garret Anderson and won the game 9-5 after four runs in the twelfth. Yunel Escobar put them ahead with a RBI single. Ryan Church followed with a three-run homerun.
