According to the China Post there has been a dispute between the front offices of the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) and the Chinese Taipei Baseball Association (CTBA) over the selection of the manager for the Chinese Taipei World Baseball Classic team. The CTBA followed the nomination of the Sports Administration and selected Uni-President 7-11 Lions manager Tai-Yuan Kuo. The CPBL preferred Chun-Chang Yeh from the EDA Rhinos for next year’s tournament.
The anger by the CPBL is especially directed to the fact that the CTBA simply selected a manager without consulting the CPBL or any candidates during the selection process. CPBL now says that it leaves it to the clubs to decide if they release their players for the 2017 WBC. However except for the Lamigo Monkeys the other three clubs already have said that they’ll cooperate with CTBA in forming a team for the tournament.
