The Haar Disciples already had signed the Austrian Baseball League MVP Clemens CICHOCKI and introduced Christian HAAS and Michael ALMSTETTER as new heads on top of the coaching staff. They announced at the weekend the signings of two more players.
Adalberto PAULINO is going to be the new center fielder. He 25-year-old is from Nizao, Dominican Republic. He signed as an undrafted free agent with the San Francisco Giants organization in 2000. He stayed in their minor league system from 2002 to 2006, when he reached the Single A level. He hit a combined .206 (OBP .302/SLG .372) in 121 games. He signed with Modi’in Miracle of the new founded Israel Baseball League in 2007. After hitting just five homeruns in five seasons in the United States he crushed eleven in just 29 games in Israel. He had a batting average of .370 (.446/.840) with 20 runs scored and 30 RBI.
Haar also welcomes a new catcher and first baseman. The Cuban Alexis HERNANDEZ was born on July 4th 1972 in Havana. He left his home country and joined independent league clubs in North America. Since 2000 he appeared in 384 games, hitting .304 (.358/.484) for several teams from Winnipeg to Newark. In 2007 he played for Edinburg in the united league. He hit .300 (.358/.450) with ten homeruns, 50 runs scored and 55 RBI in 91 games.
The Disciples lost their best pitcher this winter, as Eddie AUCOIN signed with the Baseball-Bundesliga club Mannheim Tornados. They are hoping to add a pitcher and a shortstop until their start of training camp on March 15 in Rimini.
