Disciples, Indians need Sweeps to stay alive

Posted on June 19, 2009 by philipp

The 2009 regular season in the Baseball-Bundesliga is taking his last breaths. Nearly everything is decided towards the playoffs. Only in the south the race for fourth is mathematically still open. However the DISCIPLES and the INDIANS have to win both ends of their doubleheaders against the BUCHBINDER LEGIONAERE, respective the HEIDEKOEPFE on Sunday to move past the fourth-ranked ATHLETICS. MAINZ on the other hand, which is off this weekend, would have another shot in their make-up doubleheader on June 27. The only other open decision in the south, which looms, is the case for second place. HEIDENHEIM needs just one win in the last four games to clinch the second seed behind REGENSBURG.

In the north SOLINGEN and PADERBORN still are fighting for first place in the standings. The ALLIGATORS have a 1.5 games lead, but wouldn’t win a tiebreaker. They will travel to COLOGNE for a doubleheader on Sunday. The UNTOUCHABLES will make the trip to PULHEIM. They have to win all three games left on the schedule, including an open make-up date with BONN. The CAPS kick off the game day on Saturday against the HSV STEALERS, trying to improve their position going into the playdowns later this summer.
