Counting a few rescheduled games at the end of June, three weeks are left in the German Baseball-Bundesliga. The race for fourth place in each division will headline play on Saturday. In the north STEALERS head coach Shawn Pynn sends out Marcel Brede and Kody Hightower in their doubleheader against the CARDINALS. HAMBURG features a two-game lead over COLOGNE with four games to go and can clinch the final northern spot at home. The CARDS put themselves into a deep hole with the two losses in PULHEIM last weekend and need brilliant outings by Pascal Raab and Kalev Betancourt to climb out of the hole.
In the south, fourth place is also on the line, as MAINZ and SAARLOUIS each can secure their postseason berth and end the hopes of the others. The HORNETS have a narrow lead over the A’s, which have two more games left on June 27th against HEIDENHEIM. Manuel Moeller and Nils Hartkopf will go for the home team, Ales Keprta and Kenny Camp are expected for the guests. The INDIANS also remain right in the middle of the race, but they will face the leader BUCHBINDER LEGIONAERE and second-ranked HEIDEKOEPFE to conclude the regular season. The fourth contender, HAAR, has a bye this week.
The game day in Germany already starts on Thursday with one matchup in each division. In the north the UNTOUCHABLES will get a warm-up in BONN, before taking on the SOLINGEN ALLIGATORS in another showdown between the two leaders. In the south, HEIDENHEIM will try to secure second place in their twin bill with the MANNHEIM TORNADOS.
