The Mannheim Tornados revealed in a German newspaper report that Dave Daniels is becoming their new head coach. The 62-year-old US-American coached the Solingen Alligators in 2011 in the German Baseball-Bundesliga briefly, but spent most of his time as a coach in Europe in the Netherlands. After his professional baseball career in the United States he came to Europe to play in Italy and the Netherlands and then stayed as a coach.
Daniels is replacing Daniel Husband as head coach of the Tornados. Meanwhile the club also confirmed that Juan Martin and Thomas De Wolf are leaving Mannheim to join T&A San Marino in the Italian Baseball League. On the arrival side US-American pitcher Brendan Hornung is joining the German record champion. Gianfranco Rizzo and Fernando Escarra extended their contracts. Orlando Del Muro is supposed to stay as well.
