The Italian Baseball League club Danesi Nettuno confirmed on Friday the acquisition of left-handed pitcher Jose Escalona. The transfer from league rival T&A San Marino already was rumored since weeks. Nettuno already had an agreement with him in place. The last step for the transaction was the Italian citizenship, which the southpaw obtained recently. Otherwise Danesi wouldn’t have been able to add him to the pitching staff. Last year he had a 3-0 record with six saves and an ERA of 1.62 in 14 relief appearances for San Marino. He struck out 41 batters in 33 1/3 innings, walking ten.
