The German Baseball-Bundesliga club Mannheim Tornados has a new head coach. Daniel Husband is taking over for Juan Martin, who was player-coach during the 2016 season. Husband is coming from the third-division club Deggendorf Dragons, where he worked together with Germany’s national team manager Martin Helmig. As a player Husband was active in Germany, Sweden and South Africa. In Germany he won the German championship with the Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg in 2008. The future of Martin in Mannheim is uncertain. The club is talking to the Argentinian catcher and fellow import players Eduardo Miliani and Ian Vasquez. Husband hopes to finalize roster plans for next season until the end of the year.
