Czech Top4 Nearly Set, Tempo Controls Own Fate in Decider

Posted on August 2, 2021August 2, 2021 by MrBB

The Czech Extraliga’s Top4 is nearly set, with tonight’s contest between Draci Brno (10-4) and Tempo Prague (6-8) determining the fourth and final spot in the playoff field. A Tempo win would book the Prague club’s passage to the semifinals, while Extraliga newcomers Sokol Hluboka, who finished the Top6 with a 6-9 record, would qualify for the final stage of the Czech season with a Tempo loss.

A Draci win would also give the Brno club the top seed heading into the Top4, and thus a semifinal meeting with Tempo. A Draci loss, on the other hand, would give Arrows Ostrava (11-4), who finished the Extraliga regular season in first place, another top finish heading into the semifinals.

Filip Čapka (2.25 ERA, 72.1IP, 66K, 25BB) is scheduled to take the mound for Draci, while Tempo plans to give the ball to Nicolas O’Rourke (5.86 ERA, 26.1IP, 25K, 15BB).

Eagles Prague (8-7) round out the semifinal field, with the club’s third seeding fixed.

First pitch tonight is scheduled for 19:00 (CEST). To follow the action, visit the Extraliga’s streaming page.
