Czech Republic edges out Germany in first game of Exhibition Series

The Czech Republic won game one of the three-game exhibition series 2-1 against Germany on Wednesday afternoon in Trebic, Czech Republic. After Germany took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third through a sac fly by Eric Brenk, the Czech team loaded the bases in the bottom half and scored two runs on RBIs by Daniel Vavrusa and Tomas Junec. Jan Novak pitched six solid innings, allowing just one hit, a run and two walks, while striking out seven. Petr Minarik closed it out. Wesley Roemer pitched for Germany, taking the loss. Game two will be played on Thursday at 4pm CET, again in Trebic.
