Czech Republic beats Chinese Taipei, avoids Sweep in Exhibition Series

Chinese Taipei and Czech Republic closed out a four-game exhibition series at MBS Stadium in Brno on Thursday afternoon. After Chinese Taipei prevailed in the first three games, the Czech Republic avoided the sweep with a 12-3 win. Four runs in the sixth and five in the ninth turned a close game into an easy win for the host. Matej Hejma hit a home run and drove in five runs for the Czech. Tomas Junec also went deep. Boris Bokaj pitched 5 2/3 solid innings for the win. Yu-Hsiang Lin got charged with the loss.

The Czech Republic closed out their stretch of seven combined games against Germany and Chinese Taipei with a 4-3 record. Chinese Taipei now travels to the Honkbalweek Haarlem, where its competing against the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, Japan and Cuba.
