Draci Brno routed Kotlarka Prague 21-9 in the decisive game five of the Czech Extraleague finals on Sunday to win their 20th title in Czech baseball. They overcame a 1-2 deficit in the best-of-five finals and dethroned Kotlarka which had won the title last season.
In the fifth game of the series Draci took a quick 4-0 lead after two innings. They continued to score and were up 11-2 after six innings. In the seventh Prague put five runs on the board and cut the deficit to 7-11. However Brno answered with ten runs in the eighth to seal the victory.
Martin Schneider, Michal Ondracek, Jason Jarvis and Pavel Budsky hit home runs for Draci in the game. Schneider finished the contest with four hits and seven RBI. Ondracek and Jarvis also collected four hits each, while combining to drive in eight. Martin Muzik, Daniel Vavrusa and Ryan Battaglia went deep for Kotlarka.
Radim Chroust issued six hits, two runs and a walk in 5 1/3 innings to pick up the win. Lukas Ercoli got charged with the loss, surrendering four hits, five runs (4 ER) and four base on balls in three-plus innings.
