According to a report by Honkbalsite.com Curt Smith has found a new employer. Just a couple of days after getting released by the Minnesota Twins, the Dutch first baseman returned to the independent Lincoln Salt Dogs, where he already batted .335 with nine home runs during the 2011 season. In affiliated ball Smith has played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Miami Marlins and Twins organizations, but never reached the big leagues. A strong 2013 World Baseball Classic gave him a new chance with the AL Central club, but eventually his adventure ended again.
