Two re-scheduled games were played on Tuesday evening in the Dutch Hoofdklasse. Curacao Neptunus defeated L&D Amsterdam 4-2. After Nick Urbanus got the Pirates ahead with a RBI single in the top half of the first, Rotterdam came through with three runs against Rob Cordemans in the bottom half.
All three were unearned due to a leadoff error at first base by Kenny Berkenbosch. Bas Nooij scored in the bottom of the fifth to bring Amsterdam back within a run. But a RBI single by Rien Vernooij in the eighth provided insurance and sealed the win.
It was a heated matchup with Pirates manager Charles Urbanus being ejected by Stenar Van Groningen Schinkel in the seventh and Neptunus infielder Dwayne Kemp hitting the showers in the eighth after arguing a call by Fred Van Groningen Schinkel. Apparently Neptunus pitcher Diegomar Markwell was also ejected for arguing from the dugout.
In the second matchup on Tuesday evening the Vaessen Pioniers celebrated a 1-0 shutout in ten innings over UVV. An error helped Quintin De Cuba to score the lone run of the night in the first extra frame. Starting pitcher Elton Koeiman and Jurjen Van Zijl had dominated the contest before. Koeiman conceded three hits and a walk in nine scoreless innings, striking out eight. Van Zijl gave up four hits and five base on balls in nine innings alongside three punch-outs.
