Croatian Baseball League: Week 1

Posted on April 8, 2022April 11, 2022 by Gabriel Fidler

Summary
Olimpija Karlovac began its title defense with a pair of resounding victories in Week 1 of the 2022 in Croatian baseball season. The central Croatian city had an astonishing campaign last summer, compiling an overall record of 36-5 and winning the CEB Federations Cup, the regular season and postseason titles in Croatian baseball, the Croatian Cup, the V Dragutin Gales Memorial Tournament, and the Balkan Series. It ended 2021 on a 10-game winning streak that lasted until its second pre-season game this spring, but after travelling to Split and dismantling the men of Nada SSM – a club that went 17-10 and sprinted to a 3-0 in the Croatian finals — by scores of 14-3 and 22-1, it now has a new run of four-straight victories. Zagreb had to fight harder for its Opening Weekend sweep, sending off Vindija Varaždin on the latter’s home ground, 6-3 and 8-5.
