Posted on September 14, 2007 by MrBB

James SUMMERS outdueled Roman YATSYUK in a 13-inning marathon as Croatia beat Ukraine 2-1 on Thursday at the European Championship.

The Croatian starter limited Ukraine to only a single run on four hits in an amazing complete game win. YATSYUK also went the distance but gave up 12 hits. Both hurlers fanned 12 hitters each.

Leading the offensive charge for Croatia were Karin DAMIR, Ivan RACIC, and Ernesto PEREIRA who each had a pair of hits. Ukraine was paced by Denys AGAPOV, Artem PALAMARCHUK, Serhiy HOLOVKO, and Oleksand TROFYMENKO who each had one hit.
