Sandy PatroneWhile Cariparma Parma and UGF Bologna battle for the Italian Championship, the defeated teams try to win the Coppa Italia to earn a spot in next year’s European Cup tournaments. In the first phase Montepaschi Grosseto and Danesi Nettuno finished in one and two with five respective four wins in six games, eliminating De Angelis Godo and the Catania Warriors.

In the second phase Grosseto and Nettuno will take on T&A San Marino and Telemarket Rimini in best of three series after these two clubs got ousted in the playoffs by Parma and Bologna. Games one to three are scheduled for Thursday to Saturday. Grosseto will send Chris Cooper and Riccardo De Santis to the mound against San Marino’s Tiago Da Silva and Gregory Palanzo in the first two matches. In the other duel Yoel Hernandez and Carlos Richetti get the starting nod for Nettuno, while the Pirates hope for good starts from Enorbel Marquez-Ramirez and Sandy Patrone.

Afterwards the two winners will face each other before this winner will battle the Italian Series loser for the Coppa Italia title and the European Cup spot.
