The Tenerife Marlins Puerto Cruz prevailed 3-2 in ten innings in semi-final one on Saturday afternoon against the FC Barcelona. With the win they have reached the final of the Copa del Rey at the Burlada ballpark in Pamplona. A sac fly by Yancarlo Franco decided the outcome in the top of the tenth. A foul bunt and a double play ended the comeback hopes for the FC Barcelona in the bottom of the frame after rain had stopped play for a few minutes.
Barca had tied the game in the bottom of the ninth, when Oscar Angulo homered to lead off the frame. The Marlins had led since a RBI single by Richard Montiel in the eighth. Pau Sancho also homered for Barcelona. Yoel Hernandez (MPC) issued seven hits, two runs and two bb in 8 1/3 innings. Leslie Nacar (W) replaced him on the mound in the ninth and not only picked up the win with scoreless relief, but also scored the decisive run. Ricardo Hernandez (L) struck out eight in ten innings, getting charged with eight hits, three runs (2 ER) and four bb in ten innings.
Semi-Final 2:
CB Sant Boi – Baseball Navarra 8-0

The second semi-final at the Spanish Cup wasn’t nearly as dramatic, as CB Sant Boi cruised to an easy 8-0 shutout. Four runs in the first three innings and four in the sixth sealed the deal early. Marc Carrillo and William Domero went deep for the defending Spanish champion. Rafael Rivas drove in two. Daniel Martinez scored twice. On the mound Lowin Sacramento (W) conceded four hits and a walk in eight scoreless innings for the win. Juan Jose Lopez (L) was charged with eleven hits, eight runs and three bb in 5 1/3 frames.
