The Sports Group of the C.E.B. Executive Committee has decided to change the format of the European Cup club tournaments.
European Cups – period 1st week June
European Champions Cup
Participants (8) are the Champions of the following Federations:
· Czech Republic
· France
· Germany
· Italy
· Netherlands
· Russia
· Spain
· Ukraine
European C.E.B. Cup
Cup winners or runner-ups (8) of the following Federations:
· Czech Republic
· France
· Germany
· Netherlands
· Italy
Champions of:
· Belgium
· San Marino
· Switzerland
Qualifiers for the C.E.B. Cup (period 3rd week of June):
Federations Cup (or combined with sponsor name)
Two, three or four tournaments which serve as qualifiers for a playoff tournament or home and away semi finals and finals. Participants can make agreements on schedule under strict C.E.B. coordination.
Champions of:
· Austria
· Belarus
· Bulgaria
· Croatia
· Greece
· Hungary
· Lithuania
· Poland
· Romania
· Slovakia
· Sweden
· Other Federations
Groups will be established and if needed filled up to maximum 4 groups of 5 teams or 3 of 6, all depending on subscriptions by the runner-ups of:
· Austria
· Belgium
· Croatia
· Russia
· Spain
· Switzerland
· Ukraine
Promotion-Relegation system:
From the European Champions Cup the last ending team relegates to the European C.E.B. Cup. From the C.E.B. Cup the best placed federation which is not represented in the Champions Cup is promoted to the European Champions Cup.
From the European C.E.B. Cup the last ending team relegates to the Federations Cup. From the Federations Cup the best placed federation which is not represented in the C.E.B. Cup is promoted to the C.E.B. Cup.
For the Federation of San Marino are applying special rules for a period of three years. The team of San Marino will be treated as an Italian team and will be allowed to play three years in the European C.E.B. Cup.
