The Dutch Hoofdklasse clubs had till Friday midnight to complete transfers within the league. We’ll have the complete list on Sunday on Mister-Baseball.com and are going to look at each of the eight teams next week.
Today we take a quick peek at a few changes at SPARTA/FEYENOORD. The Rotterdam-based club lost their head coach Steve Janssen a few days ago, who signed with DOOR NEPTUNUS. They now have introduced his successor. Ludwig Bernadina replaces Janssen at the top of the coaching staff. He comes from the second team of SPARTA/FEYENOORD and is the brother of WASHINGTON NATIONALS outfielder Roger Bernadina. Ludwig Bernadina will also serve as third base coach. The juniors coach of BREDA and former head coach of JEKA (2002-2006), 45-year-old Francisco Anasagasti, is going to assist him as bench coach. The club will hire another coach till the start of the 2009 season.
Besides the new coaches, SPARTA/FEYENOORD also welcomes seven new players on the roster for 2009. Mike Bazuin, Gregory Gustina and Wouter Lensselink are coming from local rival NEPTUNUS. Roy Beems (AMSTERDAM 2) and Rutger Veugelers (EURO STARS) will join the trio, as well as Rubinet Koko and Mario Mujica, who both receive a promotion of the second team of SPARTA/FEYENOORD.
Center fielder Shaldimar Daantji, head coach Steve Janssen (both NEPTUNUS), Elton Koeiman, Rudy Seebus (PSV EINDHOVEN) and Ramphis Trinidad (EURO STARS) are going to leave the club.
