It looks like only the Major Leaguers with Dutch ties on opening day will be outfielder/DH Andruw Jones with the Chicago White Sox and Atlanta Braves’ starting pitcher Jair Jurrjens. Outfielder Roger Bernadina is still on the edge and could either make the cut with the Washington Nationals as a bench player or not.
Wladimir Balentien, who is on the 40-man roster of the Cincinnati Reds and is out of options, is either going to be designated for assignment or will be traded this weekend. He lost the battle for the fifth outfielder job against Laynce Nix. Balentien batted .327 (OBP .353/SLG .571) with two homeruns, five runs scored and four RBI through 49 at-bats in 20 games this spring.
