Chris Paterson latest Addition to Regensburg Roster

Posted on March 23, 2010 by philipp

The Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg have signed the 24-year-old right-handed pitcher/outfielder Chris Paterson. He played for the French Elite League club Montigny last season. The Californian spent the winter in the Californian Winter League and in Australia (Doncaster Dragons). He is scheduled to arrive on Wednesday and will join the team on its trip to training camp in Grosseto, Italy.

Paterson batted .292 (OBP .363/SLG .444) with seven extra base hits, six runs scored and 13 RBI in 72 at-bats through 20 games (18 starts) for Montigny. On the mound he had a 1-7 record with an ERA of 6.75 in ten appearances (nine starts). He struck out 50 batters in 66 2/3 innings, walking 46. He is the third new pitcher on the Regensburg roster besides Boris Bokaj and Rene Herlitzius.

The Buchbinder Legionaere announced the acquisition of Paterson, who also had an offer to coach and play in the Czech Extraleague, during a press conference at the shopping mall and new sponsor “Regensburg Arcaden” on Tuesday. He is basically succeeding Eddie Aucoin in the foreign pitcher spot in game two. Aucoin has joined the Dutch Hoofdklasse club Konica Minolta Pioniers during the offseason.
