The host of the World Cup of Baseball, Chinese Taipei, earned their third win of the tournament on Saturday. They scored five runs in the first three innings on course to an 8-4 victory against Spain.
Taiwan connected for three runs in the first to take a fast lead. They added two more in the third to raise pressure on their opponents. They continued to build up the score after that and were in no danger to lose the match. The Spanish team scored twice in the second and seventh frame. They out-hit Taipei 12-8, but failed to bring runners home on several occasions.
Chin-Feng CHEN (3-5, 3 RBI) and Tai-Shan CHANG (2 RBI) hit pitches out of the ballpark. Kuo-Hui LOhad two hits in three at-bats.
Daniel MARTINEZ GONZALEZ, Miguel MORA ALONSO and Daniel SANCHEZ REYES had two hits and a RBI each.
Chih-Lung HUANG started for Chinese Taipei. He gave up two runs on five hits in only one frame. He was relieved by Yu-Cheng LIAO, who eraned thw win with four innings of relief. He was charged with seven hits and two runs.
Ivan Miguel GRANADOS CREAZZOLA (L 0-1) allowed one hit, four earned runs and five base on balls in two-plus innings. Remigio LEAL and Jose Fernando GUTIERREZ followed him on the mound for Spain.
