Chinese Taipei takes advantage of the crowd, beats Germany 2-0 and is the first team with three victories at the Final Olympic Qualifying Tournament. However the European underdog showed another impressive performance.
After six scoreless innings to open the match, Taiwan came through in the top of the seventh frame. They scored two two-out runs on a RBI-double and a RBI-single by Kui-Hi LO and Chih-Kang KO. Germany tried to rally in the ninth, put runners on the corners with no outs, but failed to bring them home. Jendrick SPEER and Dominik WULF had two hits.
Andre HUGHES (L 0-1) started for Germany. He allowed two runs on eight hits and no walks in 6 2/3 innings. Philipp HOFFSCHILD, Martin ALMSTETTER and Markus WINKLER completed the game.
Starter Chih-Chia CHANG allowed five hits in five innings. Ko-Chien LIN received the win.
