After four of their six-game exhibition schedule versus Chinese Professional Baseball League clubs Team Taiwan has an even record. They defeated the Presidents Lions 8-7 thanks to Tai-Shan CHANG’s two-run-homerun in the top of the ninth.
It was the first time after three disappointing performances that the offense of Chinese Taipei worked on all cylinders. Tseh-Hsuen LIN and Chih-Sheng LIN smacked homeruns as the teams scored seven runs through long balls.
Starter Kai-Wen CHENG struggled and was charged with six runs in five innings. Reliever Fu-Deh NEE received the victory, striking out six in three perfect innings. Closer Jia-Ren LUO had some troubles to finish the contest. He gave up a run and loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the ninth. However he induced a double play and struck out the final batter to earn the save.
